Recapping the first July Evaluation Period

Indiana coach Tom Crean and his staff were busy this week. Where were they and who did they see?

The first July evaluation period is over, and Indiana was busy all week.

Tom Crean opened the period in Indianapolis watching 2015 forward Raymond Spalding on Wednesday night, and was back to see Spalding again Thursday morning.

From there, Crean went to Chicago to see a number of players, including 2015 forward Juwan Morgan, 2016 forward T.J. Leaf and others.

Crean was back in Indianapolis on Thursday night watching 2017 prospects Kris Wilkes, Paul Scruggs, Justin Roberts, Zach Gunn and Jaren Jackson Jr.

Crean spent some time in Philadelphia watching 2016 forward Tyus Battle and others on Friday. He opened Saturday watching 2016 guard Quentin Goodin and 2015 guard Jimmy Whitt in St. Louis, then returned to see Spalding again in the afternoon. Crean also watched Canadian prospect Justin Jackson (2016) and Indiana big man Joey Brunk.

Crean closed the recruiting period working both events in Chicago again, watching Leaf, Morgan and others.

It was clear through the first evaluation period that Spalding is a clear priority for the staff. It will be hard to get him out of Louisville, but Crean has done a great job with Spalding and has put his program in good position to land him. Top Stories
