Crean and two assistants were on hand to see Jones, a 6-foot-6 small forward and the 43rd-ranked player in the 2015 class.
Several other schools were there to see Jones as well -- Louisville, Kansas, Kentucky and Syracuse included -- but those four schools sent only one assistant coach. Crean had most of his staff on hand.
"It's just telling me the coaches really want me bad," Jones told CBS Sports. "It's just great to have the coaches come out and see me play."
As with the first evaluation period last week, Crean's whereabouts on the first day tell us a lot about his focus for the period. Like last week when Crean watched Raymond Spalding on Wednesday night and Thursday morning, Crean opened the period by watching a talented 2015 forward.
