David Kenney takes leave of absence

Indiana University announced Friday afternoon that David Kenney has left the IU football program and taken a leave of absence for personal reasons.

Sophomore defensive end David Kenney, listed as No. 2 in preseason depth chart at one defensive end position, has taken a leave of absence fro the Indiana football program, the university announced Friday.

Kenney's leave is for personal reasons, according to a short release put out by IU and passed out after Friday's practice.

"At this time, David needs a break from Indiana University,'' said IU football coach Kevin Wilson. "We will continue to support David and wish him nothing but the best. There is no timetable for his return and we will not comment any further.''

Kenney played seven games and had nine tackles as a true freshman last season.
