IU soccer beats Washington in exhibition game

Indiana knocked off No. 6 Washington 1-0 Saturday night in Fort Wayne, Ind. to close the exhibition season. IU lost to Xavier in the exhibition opener, 1-0.

Indiana evened its exhibition record at 1-1 Saturday night with a 1-0 victory over No. 6 Washington at the ShinDigz National Soccer Festival in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Femi Hollinger-Janzen’s goal in the 64th minute provided the Hoosiers with the victory.

Tanner Thompson passed a ball to Hollinger-Janzen in the center of the field and the junior was able to sneak it past UW goalkeeper Spencer Richey with 63:18 for the only goal of the game.

Washington led on shots 13-8 and both teams had three shots that were on goal.

IU opens the regular season on Friday when it plays host to Georgetown at 8 p.m.
