At AllHoosiers.com, we are constantly looking for new ways to keep you engaged and interested in all things Indiana athletics.
Starting this week, I will start a new blog called "The Albers Angle," in which I will share with you random thoughts on Indiana basketball, football, the Big Ten, and more. I will continue to write "Hoops Recruiting Central" blogs for basketball recruiting news, but this will be another way for me to engage with you going forward.
It's kind of a light news day today, but former Indiana basketball standout Maurice Creek announced he will play professionally in the Netherlands next season. That's great news for a guy that went through so much during his time at IU, but never stopped working and continues to persevere.
The NCAA announced today that it has lifted its bowl ban on Penn State, effective immediately. PSU will also get all of its scholarships back for the 2015-16 season. Penn State had two years remaining on its four-year bowl ban for its handling of the Jerry Sandusky scandal.
My thoughts? Good for the school. I understand the sentiment out there that Penn State should still be punished, but I hate that it has to come at the sake of student athletes that had no part in the wrongdoing. The NCAA found a sort of middle ground by ending the ban at two years, and I tend to agree with it. Good for James Franklin, and good for the student athletes that can now play in a bowl game.
