Every Tuesday at 9 a.m., AllHoosiers.com will have its ‘On The Mend’ feature that looks at Indiana injuries and how they could potentially affect the upcoming game of the week.
Here is the report following Saturday’s 37-15 loss to Maryland.
There were two injuries of note to track. One involved a player who didn’t play at all against the Terrapins and the other with one who was injured in the game.
“Murphy didn't play with a slight ham, but he’s back in the mix,’’ Indiana coach Kevin Wilson said at his weekly press conference on Monday. “ I thought Chase Dutra and Kiante Walton did great in his spot anyway (but) we'll get Murph back."
The injury that appeared to be of concern during the game was to left tackle Jason Spriggs, who had to be helped off the field by two teammates after suffered what appeared to be a knee injury with 10:53 to play in the game. He did not return.
Wilson said Spriggs was actually cleared to return to the game but he and his staff didn’t want to take a chance.
"He has a sprained knee deal and we'll see how he goes through this week and what is the level of tolerance,’’ Wilson said. “During the game because it was loose he was cleared to come back and we said no. Now that you've had a couple of days off and we get back to practicing, let’s see what the range of motion is like and the strength level. We're not going to put him in a bad position if he can't go and we're lucky that we have some depth there so if we need it, we'll move forward.
“ I guess it will be a day-to-day deal and (Monday) is an off day and we will know more as the week goes. It's a wait and see deal.’’
Peyton Eckert took over in his place on Saturday.
Beyond that, Wilson said there were no other injuries that involved limitations at this time.
