Indiana looked about as good as it could look in the first quarter Saturday against North Texas.

The second quarter was a mixed bag.

Still, IU leads 21-3 at halftime over the Mean Green at Memorial Stadium.

Indiana scored quickly on a 1 yard run by Tevin Coleman with 11:40 to play in the first quarter. That score was set up by a interception by true freshman Tegray Scales.

Indiana then had a successful onsides kick to get the ball back. Nine plays and 51 yards later, Nate Sudfeld hit Jordan Fuchs on fourth-and-two for a 12 yard TD pass to make it 14-0 at 6:11 to play in the period.

The Hoosiers made it 21-0 on a 45 yard pass from Sudfeld to Shane Wynn with 32 seconds remaining in the first quarter.

The IU defense had only surrendered 66 yards all day before North Texas marched 80 yards on 11 plays near the end of the half to make it 21-7 on a 20 yard pass from Dajon Williams to Carlos Harris.

It was a good first half for Sudfeld who completed 18-of-23 for 145 yards and two touchdowns. He was not sacked.

Coleman gained 36 yards on seven carries. Nineteen of those yards came on IU’s last three plays of the half.

Shane Wynn had four catches for 51 yards and Coleman had four catches for 34 yards.
