2016 guard target off the board

Kyle Guy, a 2016 guard from Lawrence Central, committed to Virginia on Monday.

One of Indiana's top guard prospects in the 2016 class came off the board on Monday when Kyle Guy committed to Virginia.

Guy, a 6-foot-2 shooting guard from Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis, committed to the Cavaliers after taking an unofficial visit there over the weekend.

Guy had offers from Indiana, Purdue, Butler, Xavier, Missouri, Iowa State, Ole Miss, Iowa, N.C. State, Northwestern and California.

“When I was there I got the feeling multiple times that I knew this was the place for me and that I could envision myself there,” Guy told Scout.com's Brian Snow. “Coach (Tony) Bennett was perfect for me so I decided to commit.

“I was more surprised than anybody that I committed. However when I got there and knew it was the right place, there was no reason to wait.”

With Guy off the board, Indiana will likely shift its focus to other talented guards in the 2016 class like Josh Langford, Rawle Alkins, Payton Pritchard and others. Pritchard is a similar-type player to Guy but is more of a true point guard, making him a better fit for what Tom Crean wants to do.
