Daily Feature: How They Fared

As multiple Indiana commits prepare for playoff action this week, see how Hoosier recruits finished off the season, as well as some season totals.

Every Wednesday AllHoosiers.com’s Ben Faunce has a weekly feature looking back at how Indiana’s football commits in the class of 2015 fared the week before.

With playoffs around the corner, many IU recruits finished up their regular season on high notes. See how they played this week and where their season totals stand.

Nick Westbrook recorded 10 receptions, gaining 292 yards and four touchdowns in a Lake Mary (Fla.) 41-19 rout over Spruce Creek. Westbrook leads the 8-0 squad with 60 receptions, 1,212 yards and 13 receiving touchdowns on the season. Westbrook passed the 2,000-yard mark for his career on Friday, totaling 2,038 receiving yards in two varsity seasons. Westbrook is averaging 20.2 yards per catch and 151.5 yards per game in his senior season.

Titus Booker rushed for 264 yards on 24 attempts and found the end zone three times as Grayslake North (Ill.) defeated Woodstock North 49-29. Booker finished only 69 yards shy of the 2,000-yard mark for the regular season. He also scored 26 touchdowns and put up seven multi-touchdown games. Friday also marked his sixth game going over 200 yards this season. Grayslake North plays at St. Francis in the first round of the IHSA Football Playoffs this week.

Austin Dorris led Shadyside (Ohio) to a 42-13 win over Bridgeport to complete a 9-0 regular season. Dorris completed 6-of-11 passes for 187 yards and four touchdowns. Dorris wasn’t effective on the ground, as multiple sacks led to a negative 14-yard outing, and Dorris fell just shy of the 1,000 rushing yard mark for the regular season. After a bye week next week, Shadyside will host Barnesville in the first round of the OHSAA Playoffs.

Joe Belden recorded three solo tackles, two tackles for a loss and one sack as Avon (Ind.) defeated Brownsburg 41-10 in the first round of the IHSAA Football State Tournament. Belden ended the season with 28 solo tackles, 12 tackles for a loss and four sacks. Avon will play at Ben Davis in the second round this week.

Leon Thornton had two receptions for 48 yards, as well as 25 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown out of the Wildcat formation, as Lombard (Ill.) Montini defeated Marmion Academy 27-14. Thornton scored 11 total touchdowns in his senior season and recorded 39 receptions for 552 yards. Montini will host DuSable in the first round of the IHSA Football Playoffs this week.

Omari Stringer and Crete-Monee (Ill.) pulled off a 42-28 win against Prairie Ridge. Crete-Monee will play at Yorkville in the first round of the IHSA Football Playoffs this week.

Hunter Littlejohn and Powell (Ohio) Olentangy Liberty defeated Dublin Coffman in a 53-24 rout. Littlejohn anchored an offensive line that racked up 347 yards of offense.

Brandon Knight and Noblesville (Ind.) fell to Carmel 28-6 in the opening round of the IHSAA Football State Tournament, ending Knight’s senior season.

Simon Stepaniak and Hamilton (Ohio) Ross defeated Little Miami 42-12.

Tommy Stevens and Indianapolis (Ind.) Decatur Central had a first round bye in the IHSAA Football State Tournament last week. Decatur Central hosts Zionsville in the sectional semi-finals on Friday.

Jacob Robinson and Westfield (Ind.) had a bye week last week. Westfield will play McCutcheon in its first game of the IHSAA Football State Tournament.
