Indiana freshman forward Emmitt Holt is still struggling with what he was part of early Saturday morning, teammate Nick Zeisloft said Wednesday afternoon.

Holt was the driver of the vehicle that struck IU player Devin Davis, leaving him in serious condition with a hairline skull fracture. Holt, 18, was cited for underage drinking and operating a vehicle. His BAC was 0.025.

“It’s unfortunate that he was in that position," Zeisloft said of Holt. "A lot of us are lucky that it wasn’t us. It’s very unfortunate for Emmitt, but we’re behind him.

“I don’t even know how Emmitt could feel. I know Emmitt isn’t doing too hot, but we’re there for him. We’re gonna have each other’s back. We have Emmitt’s. We gotta look out for each other.”

Indiana opens its season Thursday night with an exhibition game against Northwood University at Assembly Hall. Holt is suspended for the first four games for his part in the incident.
