Emmitt Holt leads IU over Pitt, 81-69

Emmitt Holt scored a career-high 15 points and made all six of his shots from the field in 19 minutes off the bench as Indiana beat Pittsburgh 81-69 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge at Assembly Hall.

It was Emmitt Holt’s coming out party Tuesday night at Assembly Hall.

And his performance is a big reason why the Hoosiers improved to 6-1.

Holt, the 6-7 freshman from Webster, N.Y., scored 15 points off the bench to lead all Indiana scorers and the Hoosiers cruised to an easy 81-69 victory over Pittsburgh in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

Indiana (6-1) led by as many as 23 points at 72-49 with 6:40 to play.

Five games into this year’s Challenge, the Big Ten now has a 5-0 advantage. Minnesota and Michigan have also won in early games on Tuesday night.

Holt was impressive throughout the game. He scored 11 of his points in the first half as the Hoosiers built up a 45-37 halftime advantage.

Holt was 6-of-6 from the field, 3-of-4 from the free throw line and had five rebounds in 19 minutes of action.

James Blackmon Jr. had 13 points, Yogi Ferrell had 11 and Troy Williams was the fourth player in double figures with 10. Collin Hartman had seven points and six rebounds off the bench.

Indiana will face Savannah State on Saturday night at Assembly Hall.
