Indiana won handily on Saturday night, beating Savannah State 95-49 at Assembly Hall. The Hoosiers will play No. 5 Louisville at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night, the toughest game on IU's non-conference schedule.
Indiana coach Tom Crean talked about his team's matchup with the Cardinals following Saturday night's win.
"They're outstanding, there's no question about it," Crean said. "I'm not as prepared to talk about the personnel and things of that nature as I will be over the next few days, but the bottom like is, Rick [Pitino] is one of the best that's ever done it. There's no way around that. We've had battles with him in the past back when I was at Marquette, and I've learned a lot from watching his teams, the way he coaches the game.
"They have as good of a pressure defensive team as I have seen to this point. Our zone offense is going to have to be outstanding. They're going to do different things defensively, but you've really gotta be able to run your zone offense and run it crisply. They don't let up. The bottom line is, they never go away and they don't let up. Their guards are extremely physical."
We will have plenty more coverage ahead of Tuesday's marquee matchup in the next few days. Stay tuned.
