Halftime: Indiana 40, Georgetown 30

The Hoosiers turned in a strong first-half effort at Madison Square Garden.

Indiana turned in a solid first half of basketball and leads Georgetown 40-30 at Madison Square Garden.

The Hoosiers (10-2) turned the ball over nine times, but made up for it by shooting well from the outside. The Hoosiers made 7-of-13 shots from beyond the arc in the half, including four from James Blackmon Jr. and two from Yogi Ferrell. Blackmon and Ferrell scored 12 points apiece in the first half.

Meanwhile, the Hoosiers also lead in the rebounding battle, 21-15, something nobody saw coming against the big, physical Hoyas (7-3). Big man Joshua Smith picked up three fouls for Georgetown in the half, and that helped somewhat in the rebounding department.

IU struggled against Georgetown in the half court early, but got going when it got out in transition.

Indiana let a 10-point lead slip late in the first half against Butler. Today, the Hoosiers finished the half strong. That's a good sign.

Troy Williams added eight points and four rebounds for the Hoosiers.

We will have plenty more coverage from the game later this afternoon.
