COLUMBUS, Ohio --- Indiana started hot for the second straight game, but the shots stopped falling and the turnovers started coming in masses.
The Hoosiers trail Ohio State 38-32 at the half from Value City Arena.
Yogi Ferrell leads Indiana with eight points on 3-of-6 shooting, and Collin Hartman and Troy Williams have six points each. Indiana turned it over 11 times in the first half and shot 55 percent from the field.
Like they did against Maryland on Thursday night, the Hoosiers came out firing against Ohio State. IU (15-4, 5-1 Big Ten) made its first eight field-goal attempts and led 18-12 at the 13:40 mark of the half.
But Indiana scored only one point over the next 7:15, while turning it over seven times. The Hoosiers were outscored 13-1 during that stretch.
Emmitt Holt and Nick Zeisloft did a good job of getting the Hoosiers back in the game after falling behind 35-25 late in the half, but the final 37 seconds will haunt them if they end up losing the game.
Down 35-32, Indiana got the ball back after an Ohio State turnover. With only a couple of seconds separating the game and shot clocks, the Hoosiers could have held for what would probably be the final shot of the half. Instead, Stanford Robinson hurried the ball down the court and traveled.
That gave the Buckeyes the ball back with 33 seconds to go. Freshman star D'Angelo Russell then smoked Robinson to the basket for a 3-point play with only three seconds left in the half. Russell led all scorers with 16 first-half points on 7-of-11 shooting.
Worst case, Indiana should have been down three heading into the break with all the momentum on its side. Instead, the Hoosiers are down six on the road.
It was a rough half for Robinson, who also had two other turnovers and did not score. He played more minutes than usual because freshman guard Robert Johnson hurt his leg on a drive to the basket early in the half. He returned briefly, but then went back to the bench and had ice on his knee at the end of the half.
We will have plenty more coverage from this game later this afternoon.
