National Signing Day has arrived and Indiana is hoping to sign a full class of 25 players today.
As of late Tuesday night, the Hoosiers had a total of 23 commitments and were waiting on several players to make their final decisions today.
Of the 23 committed players, 21 are high school players. The other two are transfers from UAB that will be able to have instant eligibility after that university opted to discontinue its football program.
The two UAB transfers are running back Jordan Howard and wide receiver Marqui Hawkins.
The big question now is whether the other 21 commits will all sign on the dotted line today. The early returns seem to indicate that they will. But IU is always hesitant on this front. It was just last year that one of IU’s committed players, Airius Moore, backed out of his commitment on signing day and opted to sign with North Carolina State instead.
And this class of 2015 certainly has had its share of players changing their minds. Seven players in this class have de-committed from other universities only to flip to Indiana. And two IU former commits have flipped to other schools as well.
Here is a look at the 23 players that IU is hoping to sign today. AllHoosiers.com will be following the news all day until IU has officially received all of the signed letters.
To date, Indiana has commitments from 13 players on offense and 10 on defense.
The 23 players represent 10 states. Florida leads the way with five and Indiana has four. Georgia and Ohio are next with three commits to the Hoosiers each. Maryland and Illinois each had two, while Texas, Virginia, Missouri and Alabama had one each.
Of the 21 high school commits, 16 are 3-star recruits and five are 2-star recruits by Scout.com.
Here is the list by position:
LINEBACKER (1): Reakwon Jones.
RUNNING BACK (2): Devonte Williams and Jordan Howard.
TIGHT END (1): Austin Dorris.
