It's shaping up as a huge recruiting day in Bloomington.
Thon Maker, one of the top big men in the 2015 class, will be at Assembly Hall for today's Indiana vs. Michigan State game. On Friday, we got the news that 2015 big man and McDonald's All-American Thomas Bryant will also be in attendance for today's game.
So that's two of the top overall centers in the 2015 class at IU on the same day, and this after one of the worst weeks during the Tom Crean era at Indiana. Color me confused.
Maker, a 7-footer and a five-star prospect, was originally the top-ranked player in the 2016 class but reclassifed to 2015 in recent weeks. He's being pursued by Kentucky, Kansas, Duke and others, and there's still a possibility he could choose to play professionally overseas next year. He's always been a candidate to do that.
Bryant, a 6-foot-10, 220-pound center from Huntington Prep, had initially cut his list to Indiana and Syracuse, with the Orange being a heavy favorite. But after Friday's news of harsh sanctions for Jim Boeheim and the Syracuse program, Bryant scheduled a last-minute visit to Indiana.
We will keep you posted on these two important visits as the day progresses.
