Are the Hoosiers in the NCAA Tournament?

Indiana played the like the desperate team it is on Thursday night in a second round Big Ten Tournament win over Northwestern.

CHICAGO --- Indiana earned an important 71-56 win over Northwestern in the second round of the Big Ten Tournament on Thursday night at the United Center.

The question all Indiana fans are asking (other than: Where did that D come from!?!?!?): Are the Hoosiers in the NCAA Tournament?

My opinion: Yes.

The Hoosiers haven't played well lately, but Thursday's win got them to 20 victories overall, and they did it in emphatic fashion. Given the fact that the bubble is pretty weak -- Illinois and Texas A&M both lost on Thursday -- a resume that includes wins over SMU, Butler and Maryland should get the Hoosiers in safely.

It also helps that Indiana will be playing Maryland on Friday because its RPI should only go up given the Terrapins' top 10 ranking.

Indiana coach Tom Crean was asked for his thoughts after Thursday night's win.

"Well, I don't know. I really don't know, and no one knows," Crean said. "I would think when you look at criteria, I would think when you look at what we've done with the RPI wins, what we've done with the non-conference scheduling and winning some of the games that we did, who you choose to play, I would hope so. I think when you win 20 games and you end up winning now the tenth conference game in this league, I know it was 9 and 9 during the league and beat some of the teams that we've beaten, I would hope so."

Yogi Ferrell was asked if he thinks the Hoosiers are playing like a tournament team.

"We'll see tomorrow," he said.

It's been that kind of season for Indiana. Top Stories
