No. 21 IU Baseball wins its 11th in a row

Indiana improved to 14-4 on the season and won its 11th game in a row Tuesday with a 4-0 victory over Valparaiso. The No. 21 Hoosiers open Big Ten play on Friday at Penn State.

Indiana baseball will head into the start of Big Ten play on Friday on an 11-game winning streak.

With seven pitchers combining for 12 strikeouts and nine innings of shutout baseball Tuesday afternoon, Indiana beat Valparaiso 4-0 at Bart Kaufman Field.

IU (14-4), now ranked No. 21 in the nation after a three-game sweep of then No. 12 Cal State Fullerton over the weekend, opens Big Ten play on Friday with the first game of a three-game set at Penn State.

Freshman Brian Hobbie pitched three innings and was credited with the victory. He struck out four. He is now 3-0. On Monday, Hobbie was named the Big Ten freshman of the week.

Indiana broke open a pitching duel in the bottom of the seventh when it scored three runs to take a 4-0 lead. Brad Hartong had a two RBI single and Casey Rodrigue had an RBI double in the frame for the Hoosiers.

In the last three seasons, Indiana is now 42-6 in the month of March including a 10-0 record this season. Top Stories
