The reality, however, is that it’s actually early based on recent IU commitment history.
Ramsey, a quarterback from Cincinnati Elder, committed to the Hoosiers on April 21. Last year, the first IU commit was Simon Stepaniak on May 5. The year before that the first commit was Michael Barwick on June 3.
Still, compared to other Big Ten teams, IU has fewer commits than all but one school. Purdue actually has yet to pick up its first commit for 2016.
Ohio State leads the way at this point with 12 players committed. Michigan State and Maryland each have seven, followed by six each from Penn State, Michigan and Minnesota. Illinois, Wisconsin and Rutgers all have four commits, Nebraska has three, Northwestern two, IU one and Purdue has zero.
