The point guard said he explored his options, listened to what several teams had to say, and ultimately arrived at the decision that one more year at Indiana was the right move.
“I just felt like the best decision was for me to return for my senior year,’’ Ferrell said. “I feel like next year we’re going to have a really special team both with new guys coming in and with guys returning with a little experience under their belt. We’ll just be one of the more experienced, older teams now.
Ferrell said it was more about wanting to enjoy his college experience for one more year than anything else.
“Personally I just felt like I couldn’t miss out on an opportunity like this at Indiana,’’ Ferrell said. “It’s such a great place. I feel like I’ve had the best time of my life here. I’ve had the best memories, the best teammates, the best friends. I felt like the next level is always going to be one of my dreams. I’m still going to pursue that dream and I feel that dream is still going to be there at the end of the day.’’
He also mentioned what it will mean to have Devin Davis back next season. IU media relations was quick to chime in that there has not been an official announcement regarding Davis but signs do point to the redshirt sophomore being able to return.
“Our team could be so great next year,’’ Ferrell said. “We’ve got Devin Davis coming back now and he’s going to be one of the best rebounders in the Big Ten. You only got to get a glimpse of him in Canada but he’s absolutely a great rebounder.
“I just feel like we’ve got all the pieces to be a great team.’’
