IU target Howard makes USA 16U team

Indiana target, 2017 guard Markus Howard, was named to the 12-man team on Tuesday.

Indiana target Markus Howard was named to Team USA"s 16U squad on Tuesday, one of 12 players to do so. Howard, a 2017 top 50 prospect from Findlay Prep, picked up an offer from Tom Crean and the Hoosiers last week.

The other players to make the final cut: Jordan Brown, Wendell Carter Jr., Jalen Hill, Tre Jones, Kevin Knox, Jaylen Nowell, JaVonte Smart, Gary Trent Jr., Jarred Vanderbilt, Connor Vanover, and Robert Woodard.

Howard, a 5-foot-11 point guard, averaged 32.4 points per game for Perry High School in Arizona last season before announcing he would transfer to Findlay Prep for his final two years of high school. He's currently the third leading scorer on the EYBL circuit (20.2 ppg).

Team USA opens the preliminary round next Wednesday against Puerto Rico. The semifinal round begins on June 13 and the finals begin on June 15.
