Tracking Tom Crean (and the Indiana staff)

Here's a look at everywhere Tom Crean and his staff went during the first July evaluation period, and who they watched.

The first July evaluation period ended at 5 p.m. Sunday night, ending a busy 96-hour stretch for college coaches around the country. Here's a look at where Indiana coach Tom Crean and his staff went, and who they watched, throughout the first live period of the month. Thanks to Stuart Jackson with his help in putting this together.

Wednesday, July 8

**Tom Crean opened the first live period of July at the Under Armour All-American Camp in Charlotte. Crean watched 2016 big man Thon Maker, as well as 2017 Indiana prospects Paul Scruggs and Kris Wilkes. The UA event was the first one to open, to it made sense for Crean to put in his work there first, but it also reaffirms his commitment to the pursuit of Maker, as well as his desire to keep some of the 2017 in-state talent at home. Crean also checked out 2017 forward Michael Porter in Charlotte. Porter picked up a new offer from Kentucky on Saturday.

**Meanwhile, assistant coaches Tim Buckley and Chuck Martin started in Atlanta at the adidas Gauntlet Finale. They watched 2016 prospects Rawle Alkins, De'Ron Davis, De'Riante Jenkins and Nick Rakocevic.

Thursday, July 9

**Crean moved to Nike's Peach Jam event on Thursday morning, and got a good look at a number of IU targets. He started the day watching 2016 guard Bruce Brown and 2016 forward Miles Bridges, then moved to 2016 big man Tony Bradley.

**Buckley remained in Atlanta on Thursday morning, and watched Alkins second game in the afternoon. He also got a look at 2017 forward Jaren Jackson's game in the morning, and got another look at De'Ron Davis.

**Crean arrived in Atlanta on Thursday afternoon, and started by watching De'Ron Davis. Indiana has been recruiting Davis for some time, and he remains among Crean's top priorities in the 2016 class. Crean got a look at Rawle Alkins in the night cap, as well as Devonte Green and Nick Rakocevic. John Calipari and others were also on hand for Alkins' third game of the week.

Friday, July 10

**Crean made his way back to Peach Jam on Friday morning, and was spotted watching Bruce Brown and Kassoum Yakwe.

**Rob Judson was also at Peach Jam, and he spent time watching 2016 prospect Kevin Huerter and 2017 prospect Justin Smith.

Saturday, July 11

**With UA's event already over and the Gauntlet Finale wrapping up, Crean returned home to Indianapolis to catch 2017 prospects Paul Scruggs and Kris Wilkes at the adidas Invitational, where they had joined the Indy Hoosiers' 17U team. Crean also watched 2016 guard Eron Gordon twice, once in the morning and once in the afternoon.

**Chuck Martin handled the staff's Peach Jam duties on Saturday, watching Lamar Stevens, Lonnie Walker and Justin Smith. In the evening, Martin watched De'Aaron Fox and Jeremiah Tilmon.

**Crean watched Wilkes and Scruggs a second time Saturday. He made a strong effort to let them know they are his top two targets in 2017.

**Buckley checked out 2017 guard Jose Alvarado in his morning championship game at the adidas Gauntlet Finale in Atlanta. Alvarado was terrific all week.

Sunday, July 12

**Crean remained in Indianapolis on Sunday morning, and checked out 2016 Crown Point G/F Grant Gelon. Gelon had a strong week playing for Indiana Elite Central, and Crean told Gelon he plans to watch him the rest of the month. Gelon picked up a new offer from Western Michigan on Sunday.

**Martin and Buckley covered the final day of Peach Jam, watching many of the same targets from the first several days of the open period, including Miles Bridges. Top Stories
