Coleman wants to visit Indiana, Florida

Five-star point guard Matt Coleman told AllHoosiers.com he wants to visit Indiana and Florida in August or the early fall. Read the full story here.

Matt Coleman was quite familiar with Indiana well before they called to offer him a scholarship on Monday. Indiana's recruiting reach continues to go further and further east, and specifically into the state of Virginia, the heart of ACC Country.

Kids from Boo Williams' AAU program have gone to ACC schools for years. North Carolina gets many of them, N.C. State and Virginia get a few.

The most talented ones hardly ever got out of the region. That was, until Troy Williams.

Williams, Boo's nephew and now a junior at Indiana, did the unthinkable. He spurned North Carolina to choose Indiana, something Boo Williams called highly improbable at the time.

A year later, Robert Johnson did exact same thing.

Coleman, a 2017 five-star guard, knows all about Indiana. He watches the Hoosiers whenever they're on TV, and he's had discussions with his AAU coach, Boo Williams, about IU in the past.

"I had actually talked to Boo two days before they offered," Coleman told AllHoosiers.com. "He has mentioned to me several times that coach [Tom] Crean wanted to get me on campus."

Coleman has known Troy Williams since Troy was in the 9th grade, and he's taking a path that closely resembles the one Troy took in high school. Coleman recently transferred to Oak Hill Academy, the same prestigious school where Williams played before his days in Bloomington.

Coleman, a smooth scoring point guard with a lethal left-handed stroke, already has offers from UCONN, Cincinnati, Memphis, Virginia, VCU and Virginia Tech, and North Carolina is starting to make him a priority in the 2017 class.

But Coleman isn't committed to going to school in ACC country. He told AllHoosiers.com he wants to visit Indiana and Florida in August or the early fall.

"I am very thankful for their offer. It's real big knowing they have two local guys in Troy and Rob," Coleman said. "Coach Buckley called, and then put me on the phone with Crean. He said I fit their style of play and would be great in their system."

Could the Boo Williams Pipeline to Indiana continue? Coleman would certainly be another good one to get. Watch some highlights of him in the embedded video player below.
