Glass mum on latest IU off-court incident

Indiana AD Fred Glass didn't have much to say Wednesday regarding IU basketball's latest off-court incident.

Indiana athletic director held a press conference at Memorial Stadium on Wednesday to discuss improvements to the IU football gameday experience this year, but the conversation quickly drifted away from football altogether. Glass was asked multiple questions about last Friday's incident involving basketball players Emmitt Holt and Thomas Bryant, who were cited by excise police for illegal alcohol possession.

The incident was the latest in a string of off-court issues for the basketball team, and the second alcohol-related offense for Holt, a sophomore.

Glass wasn't ready to announce anything in terms of punishment, but he did acknowledge the incident has been discussed at length.

Indiana had its annual athletic department meeting yesterday, and school president Michael McRobbie was in attendance. Glass said it would be a fair assessment to say McRobbie "read the riot act" to the athletic department.

"Tom [Crean] and I have spoken since the incident on Friday," Glass said. "I don't really have anything to add to the statement we put out earlier this week. But know that we are giving it serious and sober attention."

Glass was asked how he feels the off-court incidents have hurt the school's image.

"I think that's fairly self evident," Glass said. Top Stories
