If the message wasn't clear to the current members of Indiana's men's basketball team about the seriousness of their off-the-court troubles, it will be now.

Indiana sophomore forward Emmitt Holt has been dismissed, effective immediately, according to a release from the program, while freshman big man Thomas Bryant will face internal discipline following alcohol citations issued to both players by Indiana State excise police on Aug. 22.

Holt is the third scholarship player to be dismissed by the program since the team played its last game.

Here is the full release from IU athletics:

Sophomore Emmitt Holt has been dismissed from the men’s basketball program effective immediately for demonstrating exceptionally poor judgment in the circumstances surrounding his recent citation, particularly coming after his involvement in the Devin Davis accident which should have motivated him to make better decisions.

Freshman Thomas Bryant, as a result of his citation, is receiving internal team discipline and is subject to additional discipline for any future failure to live up to his responsibilities to the program.
