Indiana defeats Ottawa 82-54 in the Hoosiers' first exhibition game of the 2015 season

Indiana's big run toward the end of the second half, which at one point extended to 21 unanswered points, was the difference in the Hoosiers' win over Ottawa at Assembly Hall Tuesday night.

Leading Scorer

Ottawa's Caleb Adaga finished with 17 points to lead all scorers. James Blackmon Jr. led the Hoosiers with 15. 

Turning Point

Despite shooting just 2-for-11 on 3-pointers in the first half, Ottawa still managed to hang around and kept the lead as close as six. But back to back threes from sophomore guard James Blackmon Jr. and senior guard Yogi Ferrell pushed the Indiana lead to 65-51 with 7:34 remaining in the game. It forced the GeeGees to call timeout, and out of the timeout they missed their next four shots while the Hoosiers continued to push their lead on a 5-0 run the next three minutes. IU closed the final nine minutes and 13 seconds of the game with a 25-3 run. 

Surprise Standout

IU graduate transfer forward Max Bielfeldt posted eight points and eight rebounds, but his energy was arguably felt more on defese with 14 deflections. 

Freshmen Performances

Thomas Bryant had a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds in 23 minutes starting at center. Forward O.G. Anunoby had four points, four rebounds and a steal in eight minutes off the bench, while fellow forward Juwan Morgan finished with four points, one rebound and a block in 10 minutes off the bench.
