Indiana defeats Bellarmine 73-62 in the Hoosiers' final exhibition game

A big first-half run created a big lead for Indiana, which never trailed the rest of the way.

Final Score

Indiana 73, Bellarmine 62

Leading Scorer

Indiana's Yogi Ferrell led all scorers with 21 points on 5-for-9 shooting from 3-point range. Bellarmine was led by George Suggs' 17 points.

Turning Point

Using a smaller lineup at the start, Bellarmine was able to keep it close early and cut the deficit to two after a jumper by Al Davis with 14:31 to go. However, Ferrell would spark the most important run of the game, scoring five straight points for the Hoosiers who would go on an 18-0 run for nearly seven and half minutes. The run pushed IU's lead to 27-7, and the Knights did not score again in the first half until a Rusty Troutman layup with 6:17 to go in the first half broke the scoreless streak. IU led by as much as 23 in the first half.

Surprise Standout

IU junior forward Troy Williams finished with 20 points on 7-for-14 shooting and added eight rebounds (five offensive). He was also active early and often on defense with a team-high three steals. A case could also be made for Ferrell, who also grabbed eight rebounds and dished out four assists.

Freshmen Performances

Thomas Bryant had eight points and five rebounds in 16 minutes starting at center. Forward O.G. Anunoby had one rebound and a block in nine minutes off the bench, while fellow forward Juwan Morgan did not accumulate any stats in eight minutes off the bench.
