James Blackmon Jr. led all scorers with 17 points on 7-for-13 shooting from the field.
Indiana closed the final 8:48 of the first half with a 24-3 run and never looked back. The run began with graduate transfer forward grabbing an offensive rebound and drawing the foul, then sinking a pair of free throws. However, it wasn't the scoring that made the difference, rather the rebounding. In that same stretch of time the Hoosiers outrebounded the Panthers 17-2. Controlling the offensive glass also helped Indiana, has it had a 9-0 advantage in the first half on that. The Hoosiers won the overall rebounding battle 51-17, outscoring the Panthers 26-1 in second-chance points.
O.G. Anunoby had been playing very well in Indiana's public scrimmages, and how he played Friday night was quite similar to the glimpses he showed fans in those scrimmages. Anunoby posted six points and two rebounds in five minutes off the bench Friday night, with both rebounds on the offensive glass.
Thomas Bryant commanded the paint with 11 points, nine rebounds and a block, playing 19 minutes as a starter. Juwan Morgan had one turnover in one minute of playing time off the bench. Anunoby had six points and two rebounds in five minutes off the bench.
