No. 13 Indiana 83, St. John's 73
Indiana senior guard Yogi Ferrell led all scorers with 22 points on 6-for-12 shooting from the field and added seven assists.
One could argue the turning point came at tipoff, when Indiana head coach Tom Crean sent out Ferrell, Robert Johnson, Nick Zeisloft, Collin Hartman and Thomas Bryant as the Hoosiers' starting five. Crean clearly was trying to send a message to James Blackmon Jr., Troy Williams and Max Bielfeldt, whose collective defensive and rebounding efforts hurt Indiana in its loss to Wake Forest Monday. The new lineup paid dividends on defense, as Hartman collected three rebounds in the first 4 1/2 minutes of the game. Indiana jumped out to a 23-8 lead with 8:12 remaining in the first half. The Red Storm cut the Hoosier lead to as a few as four points in the second half, but Indiana never relinquished its lead.
Williams appeared to receive Crean's message, finishing with 7 points, 9 rebounds, 2 steals and one block. Though he scored 16 against Wake Forest, he only had three total rebounds (none offensive) in that loss Monday night.
Thomas Bryant finished with 19 points and 3 rebounds in 22 minutes starting at center. Juwan Morgan had two points and one rebound in 11 minutes off the bench. O.G. Anunoby did accumulate any stats or receive any playing time.
