IU bounces back with a blowout win over Morehead State

Indiana picked up its defensive intensity in its 92-59 home win Saturday over Morehead State.

Leading Scorer

IU junior forward Troy Williams led all players with 16 points on 6-for-7 shooting from the field. Lyonell Gaines led Morehead State with 13 points on 3-for-8 shooting from the field. 

Turning Point

Socring five seconds into the game after winning the opening tip, Morehead State jumped out to an early lead. However, that lead would only last until the 13:12 mark. Sparked by a Max Bielfeldt layup, Indiana went on a 19-3 run and never relinquished the lead. The Hoosiers led by as many as 40 against the Eagles, who entered Saturday's game tied with Lousville for the best scoring defense in the nation. Indiana's 8_ points were the most points scored by a Morehead State opponent this season. Illinois State had the previous opponent-season high with 67 points in a 67-66 win over Morehead State on Nov. 16.

Surprise Standout

Normally this section is for an individual, but Saturday night Indiana's defensive effort as a team gets the nod. IU forced 23 Morehead State turnovers, which led to 27 points.

Thomas Bryant finished with 10 points and 6 rebounds in 2_ minutes starting at center. O.G. Anunoby had 1 block and 1 turnover in 2 minutes off the bench. Juwan Morgan remained sidelined due to an injury sustained against UNLV on Nov. 25th.
