Jermaine Samuels play on the Nike EYBL circuit caught Indiana’s eye, and his play in the Peach Jam took it a step further.
The Hoosiers on Saturday night offered a scholarship to the 6-foot-6 class of 2017 small forward from the Rivers School (Mass.) and the Expressions Elite AAU program, he told Peegs.com.
Samuels is ranked No. 60 nationally in the 2017 class by scout.com.
Indiana is his 10th offer, joining Boston College, Connecticut, Miami, Pittsburgh, Providence, Tennessee, Texas, Villanova and Xavier.
At the Peach Jam, Samuels impressive athleticism, ability to attack the rim on the dribble, length, toughness, solid scoring and rebounding were on display as his team, Expressions Elite, reached the quarterfinals.
Samuels is an Expressions Elite teammate of five-star center Nick Richards and four-star point guard Tremont Waters, both also IU recruiting targets.
On Saturday, Samuels had 12 points, shooting 4-for-4 from 2-point range and 1-for-4 form the arc in a quarterfinal loss.
On the season in 22 Nike EYBL games, he averaged 12.1 points per game, shot 47.1 percent from the floor, including 33.3 percent (27-for-81) from the arc.
He also averaged 6.9 rebounds per game.
As active as he is, he defends without fouling, averaging just 1.8 fouls per game.
He had a season-high of 26 points in one game.
