Four-star 2017 guard Paul Scruggs has formally withdrawn from Indianapolis Southport, finalizing his plan to play his senior season at Prolific Prep in California, multiple sources tell Peegs.com.
The 6-foot-3 guard played his first three years of high school basketball at Indianapolis Southport.
At Prolific Prep, Scruggs will be re-united with five-star 2017 guard Gary Trent Jr.
Scruggs, ranked No. 31 nationally by Scout.com, and Trent, ranked No. 12, played AAU together in middle school and will form one of the nation's top high school backcourts.
Scruggs is currently at Prolific Prep after a weekend visit there.
Prolific Prep plays a national schedule with games around the country.
Last year, Prolific Prep included forward Josh Jackson, the No. 1-ranked player in the nation in the 2016 class.
Indianapolis Southport went 22-7 last season, winning both the sectional and regional before falling to eventual Class 4A state champion Romeo Langford in the semistate.
Southport, which had a 15-game winning streak last year, would have been one of the contenders in Class 4A again this season with Scruggs.
Scruggs is the third high-profile 2017 Indiana high school player to leave for a prep school, joining five-star forward Jaren Jackson, who left Park Tudor for La Lumiere in La Porte, Ind., and four-star guard Justin Roberts, who transferred from Pike to Findlay Prep in Nevada.
