Hoosiers on top for Florida wideout

Indiana is the top school for South Florida wide receiver Angelo Gonzalez.

Angelo Gonzalez has offers from a number of schools, but there is one program that is standing out above the rest. The 6-foot-3, 185-pound wideout from Homestead (FL) Keys Gate Charter H.S. spoke with Peegs.com about his recruiting and about his interest in the Hoosiers.

Gonzalez currently has offers from Indiana, Louisville, N.C. State, West Virginia, Central Florida, Northern Illinois, Marshall, Middle Tennessee State, East Carolina and Delaware State. He said that IU is the number one school for him at this time.

“I have been watching them for a long time and they have a good passing offense,” Gonzalez said about Indiana. “I think I would fit in really well on their team. Indiana communicates with me more than any of the other schools that are recruiting me. I feel like I am wanted there. They are the top school for me. I also talk to West Virginia, Louisville and Northern Illinois, but Indiana is on top for me.”

Gonzalez, who plans on making an official visit to IU this fall, said he primarily communicates with IU offensive coordinator Kevin Johns.

“I have been talking to Coach Johns for a while,” Gonzalez said. “We communicate all the time and he seems like a really good guy. He has told me that I am one of their top guys at receiver. They are recruiting me to play on the outside.”

When it comes to his decision the South Florida native said finding a school and a team where he feels comfortable will be key for him.

“I am looking for a family atmosphere with the team,” Gonzalez said when asked what factors he will base his decision on. “I want to go somewhere that feels like home. I am also looking for a good educational environment. I want to major in sports medicine. Location is not a big deal for me.”

Gonzalez and his Keys Gate Charter teammates are off to a good start this season as they have won their first two games.

“We have played two games and we won both of them,” he said about his senior year. “I feel like I have played well. I am just trying to improve on everything.”
