Indiana has a new big man on its 2017 recruiting radar.

The Hoosiers are expressing interest in 6-foot-11, 210-pound Australian prospect Jacob Epperson of La Lumiere in LaPorte (IN), coach Shane Heirman tells Peegs.com.

Indiana is scheduled to watch Epperson today.

The Hoosiers are among approximately 40 schools expected for La Lumiere’s combine that includes basketball workouts, drills, physical testing and Denzel Valentine as the keynote speaker.

Epperson is a four-star prospect ranked No. 58 by Scout.com in the 2017 class.

New Mexico, Cincinnati, Illinois, Iowa, Marquette, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Purdue, Texas, Utah and West Virginia are among the schools involved.

Epperson will be playing his first season of basketball at La Lumiere this year.

Epperson first started to gather high-major interest with his play this summer in AAU with AUSA, first in Indianapolis.

Here is the Scout.com analysis of Epperson at the moment:

“Jacob Epperson, a native of Australia that will transfer to La Porte (Ind.) La Lumiere for his final high school season, stands 6-foot-11 and checks in at 215-pounds. Epperson has legitimate size for the position with a length set of arms and thin frame. In our viewings with AUSA Hoops over the summer, Epperson impacted the game with his shot blocking and passing.

“Epperson has A+ hands and a good feel for the game. Although he didn't necessarily impact things from a scoring standpoint, he shows potential on that end. To go with the hands, feeling and passing ability, he showed good touch, has a right jump hook in his arsenal and his mid-range jump shot looked good. At this stage, what holds Epperson back the most is his lack of strength, which in turn impacts how physical he can play. With that said, he does play hard and doesn't back down, which is a great sign. It's evident he needs to get in a weight room, but he has a number of tools that make him a promising young post prospect.”

Today’s combine at La Lumiere features a host of prospects.

Among them are five-star 2017 forward Brian Bowen, who has an Indiana scholarship offer, 6-foot-8 2018 forward Kevin Zhang and 2019 point guard Tyger Campbell.

La Lumiere has a loaded team for the 2016-17 season that includes Jaren Jackson Jr., a Michigan State commit, and Jordan Poole, a Michigan commit.
