Five-star 2017 forward Billy Preston is re-opening his recruitment, his mother tells Peegs.com.
Preston’s top five of USC, Kansas, Indiana, Maryland and N.C. State, remain the same, she said, but they are now open to other schools that have been expressing interest.
Preston is scheduled to make an official visit to Kansas this weekend, and is talking to Indiana about dates for an official visit to IU.
“He had a four-day weekend, and he came home and we talked. A lot of schools have been expressing interest in him, schools that never recruited him based on where they were or maybe they thought his grades were bad,” his mom said.
“Now that his transcripts are out and his test scores are out, schools that wanted to recruit him have reached out.
“He said he wanted to open it up. Nothing has changed with his top five. Those are still the same. He wanted to give other schools a chance to recruit him, and if anything changes, he can move some things around.
“He didn’t wanted it to go from a top five to a top six and a top seven and all that.”
Kansas is the only current set official visit for the Los Angeles native.
“Kansas and then I have been speaking to Indiana to get a date set with them,” she said. “Those are the only two schools that I’ve been speaking with for officials.”
