Peegs' Monday Prep Report: Phinisee has McCutcheon rolling again

The season is over for all three Indiana signees and Robert Phinisee has his McCutcheon team chugging along again in the Indiana 4A state tournament. Darius Garland got his Brentwood team a "three-peat" this weekend. Those are just a few of the stories in this morning's new Monday Prep Report.

Here's the recap of the last week of action for the Indiana signees and many of the main targets in the senior and junior classes. 

Class of 2017

Recent play: Durham's season ended In the Class 7A Georgia state playoffs when his Berkmar team fell to Tift County in the round of 16, 72-55. The future Hoosier led Berkmar with 16 points.

Upcoming games: Berkmar finished the season with a 21-8 record.

Recent play: His Hatboro-Horsham team ended its season with a 55-45 loss to North Penn in the second round of the state playoffs. 

Upcoming games: Hatboro-Horsham was the underdog or lower seeded team and finishes the year at 13-11.

Recent play: Smith's season came to end on Friday night in the Illinois Maine West 4A regional finals when his 28 points were not enough for Stevenson in a 82-71 loss to Waukegan. Earlier last week in the regional semis, Smith scored 21 points along in a 64-35 win over Lake Forest.

Upcoming games: Season is over for Smith. He averaged about 21 points and 10 rebounds a contest his senior year.

Recent play: Wheeler ended its season with a 75-60 loss to unbeaten McEachern in the Georgia 7A state quarterfinals. Tucker was not among the top scorers. Game story link.

Recent play: Last Friday Smith scored 12 points with eight rebounds and eight assists in a 66-53 win over Alton in the Granite City  4A Regional Final. In the Tuesday semis in a 67-38 win over Chatham Gfenwood, he finished with 15 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists. 

Upcoming games: Edwardsville starts Collinsville Sectional action tomorrow night against Belleville West.

Recent play: Had 10 points on Saturday night as his season ended against host Carmel in a 4A sectional title game, 69-57.. A minor injury kept him out of a sectional semifinal win on Friday over Anderson. 

Upcoming games: Hamilton Southeastern finishes the year with a 21-6 record.

Recent play:Walker scored five points and dished out seven assists on Wednesday in a round one 73-32 playoff win over St. Joseph. Two days later against Mater Dei, he had nine points and seven assists in a 61-34 win. 

Upcoming games: The Patrick School is now 24-4 and will continue New Jersey playoff action against Ranney later tonight.

Recent play: Helped New Albany to the 4A sectional title at Seymour on Saturday by scoring 16 points in a 54-38 win over Floyd Central. In the semis against Bedford North Lawrence, Langford had 33 points in a 89-52 victory. Earlier in the sectional opener, Langford had 31 in a 88-57 win over Jennings County. 

Upcoming games: New Albany is now 24-3 and will be back at Seymour to open regional play at 10 AM on Saturday against Center Grove (17-7). Winner gets an evening game against survivor of Bloomington South (22-4) and Castle (22-3).

Recent play: Thursday in the Division II-AA semifinals, Garland had 23 points in a 56-52 victory. Then this weekend in the state championship game, Garland led Brentwood Academy to a three-peat, scoring 30 points in a 74-42 win over McCallie.

Upcoming games: Brentwood ends the year with a 30-2 record.

Recent play: Jallow had 28 points but it was not enough in the sectional opener for his North team as Bloomington South prevailed, 75-60.

Recent play: Had 26 point and six assists on Friday in a 78-56 win over Kokomo in sectional semi play and then in Saturday's title game against Zionsville, he had 19 points, eight rebounds, five assists and five steals in a 61-47 victory.

Upcoming games: McCutcheon is now 23-2 and will face Carmel (21-4) at noon on Saturday at the Logansport Regional. The winner get survivor of the Brownsburg (18-6) versus Connersville (26-1) early game.

Recent play: Fredrick had 18 points this weekend to lead Covington Catholic over New Catholic, 60-32.

Recent play: Hunter had 17 points on Saturday to help get Tindley a 1A sectional title with a 63-41 win over Bethesda Christian. Earlier in the semis he had 31 points in a 80-58 win over Indiana Math & Science.

Upcoming games: Tindley is now 20-5 and will go to the Martinsville Regional to face Shakamak (15-10) on Saturday morning. The winner gets either Hauser (16-9) or Indianapolis Lutheran (11-12).

Recent play:After a 17 game unbeaten string to open the year, Riley was beaten in early sectional play this week by South Bend Adams, 73-72. Anderson had 18 points in the season ending loss.
