Elijah Rodgers has become commitment number two in the 2018 recruiting class for coach Tom Allen and his staff. The 6-foot-1, 160-pound standout from Blacksburg H.S. in Blacksburg, S.C. gave the Hoosiers his verbal pledge while in town for an unofficial visit.
Rodgers announced his commitment with this post on his Twitter page:
The talented prospect chose IU over offers from Purdue, BYU, Cincinnati, Colorado State, East Carolina, Georgia Southern, Coastal Carolina and Bryant. He told Peegs.com earlier this week that Indiana was standing out to him because of how hard they have been recruiting him.
“I have a great relationship with them,” he said about the Hoosiers. “They are recruiting me harder than any other school, and to me it is about being loyal to a school. They have put the most into me so I’m going to put the most back into them.”
Rodgers has been communicating with Indiana cornerbacks coach Brandon Shelby, and he said that he has a great relationship with the IU assistant.
“Coach Shelby is just a great guy," Rodgers said. "He is real about everything he says and he is straight up, and that is what I like about him.”
Peegs.com will have more on this developing story.
