Scout100 Rankings: Class of 2018

2018 Targets

AAU Team: Indiana Elite (adidas Gauntlet)

AAU Stats: N/A

Ranking History: Trending slightly up (70, 62)

Key Dates: April 14, 2017 - Phinisee has his first face to face meeting with new Indiana coach Archie Miller.

About as pure of a point guard as you'll see on the prep circuit. Phinisee is a very efficient player. Not a lot of forced shots and takes the jumper when the defense sags off. Thus far this spring he's shown an improved jumper and that he's been working on getting stronger, which has helped his ability to finish.

Indiana was early to the offer but he's in Purdue's back yard and Butler has done a terrific job recruiting him thus far..

AAU Team: Twenty Two Vision (adidas Gauntlet)

AAU Spring '16 stats: 23.6 ppg, 8.9 rpg, 2.0 apg, 2.1 topg, 56.4 FG%, 30.8 3FG%, 75.6 FT%

Ranking History: Trending even (2, 3)

Key Dates: March 19, 2016 - in what was probably one of the best ever single game performances by an Indiana high school player in the state tourney, Langford scores 43 points in first 22 minutes of a semistate game and finishes with 46 against a Southport team with two high major talents (Paul Scruggs, Joey Brunk). New Albably went on to win Class 4A.

Langford is one of the smoothest players we've seen in the prep ranks, just an effortless scorer. Has a way of slithering to the basket to make easy finishes against taller players. Streaky shooter but has a terrific pull back shot. The way he shoots his jumper is similar to former NBA star Kobe Bryant. Showed unselfish play at key times in helping lead New Albany to the 4A state title in his sophomore season. In his junior season he showed significant improvement his  his defensive awareness and effort.

Indiana is working quickly to catch up to the likes of North Carolina, Kentucky, Duke, Kansas and Louisville. .

AAU Team: Team Blaze Select

AAU Spring Stats: N/A

Ranking History: Trending up (NR, 95)

Key Dates: December 14, 2015 - Jallow receives surprise offer from then Indiana head coach Tom Crean.

Jallow has great length and potential to be a very good defensive player. Shot needs work but he showed significant improvement with his stroke during his junior season at North. Already has a college ready body.

The Hoosiers should be able to catch up quickly hear thanks to being the hometown school. Virginia, however, may be the current favorite. Jallow is an an excellent student and that has attracted the likes of Vanderbilt, Stanford and Northwestern.

AAU Team: Team Harris/Indiana Pros (adidas)

Key Dates: May 14, 2016 - during a Xavier visit Hunter reports that the Musketeers have extended a scholarship offer.

The swift lefty has a wicked crossover which helps him get easily to the basket. Nice pull-up jumper but consistency from long-range is still work-in-progress Has a chance to develop into a point guard but scoring oriented. Very skinny, especially in the legs. Nice length and that plus his quickness gets him a lot of steals and deflections on defense..

Purdue and Butler offered late last summer. Prior staff at Indiana did not go see him often and never offered. New staff waiting to see him this spring in the two eval periods. West Virginia and other Big Ten schools have joined the mix.

AAU Team: St. Louis Eagles (Nike)

AAU Spring Stats: 13.9 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 2.5 apg, 1.7 topg, 41.5 FG%, 39.5 3FG%, 76.7 FT%

Ranking History: Trending even: (12, 11)

Key Dates: March 6, 2016 - Darius Garland sneaks into Assembly Hall as under the radar recruit visiting for Senior Day game versus Maryland.

EVALUATION (Scout.com)

One of the premier lead guard prospects in the 2018 class, Garland possesses good size, length and quickness for the position. Garland plays at a good pace and changes his speeds well. Garland is a quality passer that can whip pinpoint passes with either hand. Although young, Garland has already shown a strong ability to operate in pick and roll situations. The 6-foot-2 guard makes good decision coming off screens and is a threat to find an open teammate, step behind a screen and bury a shot or make a play from the mid-range area. One of Garland's biggest strengths is his ability to make shots from three. He has deep range on his shot, good shot preparation and a fairly quick release. He's also developed a comfort level from mid-range, where he's capable of connecting on pull-ups or dropping in floaters.

Duke and Vanderbilt appear to be the teams that Archie Miller has to catch up to here but Garland has strong family ties to Indiana and knows the Hoosier campus.

AAU Team: Ohio Nova

AAU Spring Stats: N/A

Ranking History: Trending up (NR, 81)

Key Dates: March 18, 2017: Hunter with 27 points and 10 rebounds but Pickerington North falls in Ohio State playoffs to team led by UNC signee Sterling Manley

Hunter has great strength for a high school player and uses it well on the blocks. But also can pop out and successfully shoot over defenders on the perimeter.

While at Dayton Archie Miller was one of Hunter's first offers. Since then Michigan, Xavier, West Virginia, Rutgers and Pitt have followed suit. Nearby Ohio State is interested but holds multiple in-state commitments already.

AAU Team: Ohio Basketball Club (adidas Gauntlet)

AAU Spring Stats: N/A

Ranking History: Trending slightly down (60, 75)

Key Dates: May 3, 2016: Notre Dame becomes his first big school offer.

A tremendous shooter with nice two guard height. Carmody's best attribute, however, may be his terrific motor. His father is his high school coach, meaning he really knows the game.

As a product of western Pennsylvania like the Miller family, there are a number of family connections here that should help Indiana join the mix quickly. Notre Dame, Michigan, Purdue, Syracuse, Penn State, Pitt and Butler are among the schools that have been heavily involved.

AAU Team: D1 Minnesota (adidas)

AAU Spring Stats: N/A

Ranking History: Trending up (NR, 67)

Key Dates: March 2, 2017: Thompson attends Senior Day at Minnesota.

Thompson has the strength to play the power forward position but his handling and shooting skills make him an intriguing option for small forward.

Marquette and Minnesota have received much of the earlier speculation but Iowa State, Baylor, Northwester, Nebraska, Creighton and Kansas State have all offered now. Indiana assistant Tom Ostrom has strong ties to the area and may be able to get the Hoosiers involved here quickly.

AAU Team: Akron Basketball Club

AAU Spring Stats: N/A

Ranking History: Trending up (NR, 76)

Key Dates: February 13, 2017: Florida becomes his first big school offer.

Versatile four with some three skills. Shoots the pull-up well and can put it on the floor. Skinny so much of his development is down the road.

The son of NBA star Larry Nance, schools don't want to make the mistake of passing on him like they did with his older brother Larry Jr, who went on to an excellent career at Wyoming. Michigan has done a lot of early work here. Purdue, Indiana, Xavier, Ohio State, Florida, Northwestern among the other big schools involved.

AAU Team: Mac Irvin Fire (Nike EYBL)

AAU Spring Stats: N/A

Ranking History: Trending up (28, 21)

Key Dates: February 7, 2017: Dosunmu tells Scout that the schools recruiting him the hardest include Northwestern, Creighton, Xavier, and Illinois

EVALUATION (Scout.com)

At 6-foot-4, Dosunmu has very good size and length for the point guard position. He's long, has a very quick first step and is a good athlete. Dosunmu looks to drive the ball and consistently gets into the paint. He has good vision and is a quality passer. But he's also equipped to score once he gets in the paint. He finishes well through contact, is capable of tough, high glass finishes and has runners in his arsenal. Defensively, Dosunmu has a lot of potential, because of his length, instincts and lateral quickness. His Morgan Park team just took home the 3A state title in Illinois.

Dayton brought in a couple Morgan Park players the last few years in Josh Cunningham and Kyle Davis, so look for Indiana to make a push for Dosunmu, the top prospect from Illinois. New Illini coach Brad Underwood is already making Dosunmu a priority and other programs involved this winter included Xavier, Northwestern and Creighton.

AAU Team: Baltimore United (Under Armour)

AAU Spring '16 Stats: 7.8 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 1.0 apg, 1.4 topg, 41.4 FG%, 53.7 FT%

Ranking History: Trending even (NR, NR)

Key Dates: July 19, 2016: He tweets out Indiana offer.

EVALUATION (Scout.com)

A 6-foot-7, pushing 6-8 forward, Roberts is a forward prospect that plays facing the basket. He moves fluidly and runs the floor with ease. Roberts is also a good athlete. Offensively, Roberts has a good set of hands and nice touch around the goal. He likes to catch the ball in the mid-post and is capable of making off the catch mid-range jump shots or driving the ball. At this stage, he doesn't look to post often and in Scout's viewing didn't showcase any post moves. Roberts, a 2018 prospect, certainly has upside because of his physical features and potential as an offensive player.

We've kept Roberts up in the main section as he picked up an offer from Archie Miller last July when he was at Dayton, around the same time Tom Crean offered. Those two joined St. Joseph's, Kansas State and Clemson that month with offers. Cincinnati was his first big offer last year. A bit under the radar as his classmate at John Carroll is five-star point guard Immanuel Quickley. Syracuse getting more involved. Maryland has hosted him in the past.

AAU Team: Mean Streets (Nike EYBL)

AAU Spring Stats: N/A

Ranking History: Trending even (NR, NR)

Key Dates: March 22, 2017: Purdue coach Matt Painter extends an offer.

Anderson showed this winter at Riley that he's best in uptempo, pressing style where his hard play and pull-up jumper are more of a fit. Nice strength, athleticism and is a natural scorer. Can tend to play out of control but that should be curbed under good coaching.

Has come down to Indiana for an unofficial and seen Purdue and Michigan State as well. Other early offers in from New Mexico and Ball State.

AAU Team: G3 Grind (Under Armour)

AAU Spring Stats: N/A

Ranking History: Trending even (NR, NR)

Key Dates: April 6, 2016 - Easley decommits from VCU after Will Wade leaves to take the head coaching job at LSU.

Easley is still in process of changing from a power to a small forward but possesses the shot form to help make it happen. Good but not great athlete. His key is improving his handle so he can attack the basket better from the wing.

Indiana, Purdue and Xavier were early offers but began to back off when he committed to VCU. He may not be the darling of the 2018 class in Indiana but Big Ten teams are still showing consistent interest.
