Indiana has started taking a look at a major post prospect.
During the first two live evaluation periods of the spring, the IU coaching staff watched the No. 1 center in the 2018 class, five-star 7-footer Moses Brown.
Brown is the No. 1 ranked center and No. 6 overall prospect in the nation in the 2018 class in Scout.com's rankings. He plays for the New Heights AAU program and legendary Archbishop Malloy in New York.
During the two spring evaluation periods, IU’s new staff watched him. “I know,” he said. IU’s previous staff also was involved with Brown.
Brown has offers from Kansas, Connecticut, Alabama, Louisville, Michigan, UCLA, Arizona, USC, Seton Hall, Maryland, Florida and plenty of others. Duke, Kentucky and others are also watching an involved.
He said he’s made unofficial visits to Connecticut and Maryland.
For the summer, he’s trying to put recruiting on the back burner. He said he’s not thinking about campus visits until August or so and hasn’t even gotten into plans for cutting his list or making a decision.
Right now, it’s about basketball, not recruiting.
“I’ve been working on my body, being comfortable with the ball offensively,” he told Peegs.com. “I’ve been working more facing the basket.”
Brown said he was measure recently at 7-foot-1, 233-pounds, an uptick of about 10 pounds over the past six months or so.
Two players he hopes to mold his game after are Kevin Durant and Anthony Davis.
“They’re big and they face up and us their height to their advantage,” Brown said.
