Freshman guard Grant Gelon requested his release from Indiana and it was granted, giving him the option to transfer, multiple sources tell Peegs.com.
A copy of the written release also was provided to Peegs.com. It is an open release, allowing him to transfer anywhere he wishes.
The 6-foot-5 wing averaged 1.8 points as a freshman. He appeared in 12 games, playing a total of 38 minutes.
Gelon averaged 14.5 points per game as a senior at Crown Point High School and was an Indiana All-Star.
If Gelon transfers, Indiana would have 12 players on scholarship. A Division I men's basketball program can have a maximum of 13 players on scholarship.
