2018 WR Jacolby Hewitt (Gabe Brooks / SCOUT)

Tennessee wideout commits to Indiana

Indiana has picked up a commitment from Tennessee wide receiver Jacolby Hewitt.

Jacolby Hewitt has become commitment number four in the 2018 recruiting class for coach Tom Allen and his staff. The 6-foot-1, 207-pound standout from Cordova H.S. in Cordova, TN gave the Hoosiers his verbal pledge while in town today for an unofficial visit.

The talented prospect chose IU over offers from Kentucky, Memphis, UAB, Austin Peay, Eastern Kentucky and Tennessee-Martin. Hewitt told Peegs.com back in April that getting an offer from Indiana meant a lot to him.

"They were my first big offer so that got my attention right away," he said. "Getting that kind of an offer was a great moment, and it was like a dream come true. It was a good feeling because you know how hard you worked for it."

The Indiana staff has expressed to Hewitt that they like what he brings to the wideout position with his ability to make a play once the ball is in the air.

"They like that I can go up and get the ball at any point," he said when asked what Indiana likes about him as a player. "They also like that I am big, strong receiver that has the ability to break tackles."
