With his high school season now at hand, fleet-footed Florida linebacker Jeremy Campbell has put his recruitment into someone else's hands.
The Port Orange, Fla., product is one game into his senior season at Spruce Creek H.S., and he's turned his attention to helping his squad improve on last year's 8-3 season by allowing his father to handle all of the letters, offers and requests for official visits that are being directed his way.
"I've definitely put (recruiting) on hold now that my season has started," said Campbell. "My dad is handling that now, and I'm just worried about playing ball right now."
Campbell said he has 15 scholarship offers to date, including one from Indiana. There have been various reports over the summer that the 6-2, 214-pound outside linebacker was favoring Louisville, Indiana and Purdue, but Campbell said that those stories are likely a bit premature.
"I don't really know why people were saying it was just those three, because I don't really have a top three because I haven't visited anywhere yet," said Campbell.
Indiana is a school, though, that Campbell plans on giving serious consideration to. He said getting a good education is his No. 1 priority when considering potential college destinations, and he likes the programs that IU has to offer. He also has developed a good relationship with IU quarterbacks coach/passing game coordinator Matt Canada, who has joined IU Recruiting Coordinator Troy Douglas in recruiting the Sunshine State.
"Coach Canada is a cool guy and he makes me feel like I can fit in there," said Campbell.
Spruce Creek's season didn't get off on the right foot, as it dropped a 19-0 contest to Seabreeze H.S. in its 2005 season opener.
