Ben Chappell, QB Bloomington (Ind.) High School South – Chappell had one of the best performances of his career, completing 22-of-35 passes for 299 yards and three touchdowns to lead South (4-1) to a come-from-behind, 35-28 victory over Columbus North (3-2). With South trailing 28-14 entering the fourth quarter, Chappell led the comeback by throwing for 185 yards and a touchdown and rushing for another score in the final quarter alone. Chappell's final touchdown throw came with :32 remaining on the clock.

Jeff Sanders, TE Springfield (Ill.) Sacred Heart Griffin H.S. – Sanders caught four passes for 36 yards as Sacred Heart Griffin pounded Lincoln, 69-20. Sacred Heart Griffin (4-0) piled up 463 yards of total offense against Lincoln (2-2) while limited its foes to just 98 for the game. Sacred Heart Griffin continues to be ranked No. 2 in the state in Class 5A.

Matt Mayberry, OLB/FBHinsdale (Ill.) South H.S. – After being held scoreless in a 3-0 loss to Hinsdale Central a week ago, Matt Mayberry and his Hinsdale South (3-1) squad bounced back with a 41-21 over Morton. No stats were available from the game.

Alex Perry, OT – Morris (Ill.) – Morris continues to roll over opponents behind the running of tailback John Dergo. Friday night Dergo ran for 234 yards and six touchdowns as Morris H.S. pounded Riverside Brookfield, 61-8. Running behind the likes of Perry, Dergo has piled up 610 yards and 10 touchdowns in the last two weeks alone.

Mike Stark, OL – Platteville (Wis.). Platteville (4-0) picked up its fourth straight win, knocking off Richland Center, 19-7 at UW's Camp Randall Stadium. Platteville was one of 14 Wisconsin high schools that got a chance to play in the newly renovated stadium this weekend, thanks to a partnership between the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association and the University of Wisconsin. The WFCA/Badger Classic consisted of seven games played Sept. 16-17 on the Madison campus. The Badgers, meanwhile, are on the road to play North Carolina Saturday.

Pete Saxon, IL – Plain City (Ohio) Jonathan Alder H.S. (3-1) lost its first game of the season, falling to Washington C.H. Miami Trace 18-15 in overtime.

Brad Martin, TE – Marion (Ohio) Pleasant H.S. (1-2) played Galion Northmor Friday night. No results/statistics were available.
