Catch up on IU's recruits for the Class of 2006 as they pursue state championships with their respective high school football programs.

James Brewer, OL – Indianapolis Arlington lost to Lawrence Central last week 42-21 decision in the first round of sectionals to finish its season at 4-6.

Ben Chappell, QB Bloomington (Ind.) High School South – Bloomington South's season came to an unexpected end in the first round of sectionals with a 17-10 loss to Terre Haute South last week. Chappell concluded his senior season completing 165-of-282 passes for 2,359 yards and 27 touchdowns. He also ran for another seven scores.

Cody Faulkner, OL - Hamilton Heights (Ind.) H.S. - Hamilton Heights won in dramatic fashion for the second straight week. One week after needing three touchdowns in the game's final 6:10 to beat Tipton, Hamilton Heights went double overtime before knocking off 10th-ranked Twin Lakes, 27-21. Hamilton Heights is now 7-4 on the year, and more importantly, still alive in the state playoffs.

Deonte Mack, DT - Elkhart Central's season ended last week with a 45-6 loss to Mishawaka in the first round of the sectional. Elkhart Central closed the year 4-6.

Brad Martin, TE – Marion (Ohio) Pleasant H.S. (8-2) won its seventh straight with a 40-13 win over Cardington Lincoln.

Greg Middleton, DE - Indianapolis (Ind.) Pike H.S. - Middleton's Pike squad finished the year 4-6 after a 43-10 loss to Decatur Central last week.

Matt Mayberry, OLB/FBHinsdale (Ill.) South H.S. – Matt Mayberry has been doing plenty of damage with his ability to run the ball, but it was his skill at throwing it that helped Hinsdale South to a 24-14 win over Oswego in the first round of the playoffs. With the two teams tied 14-14 in the third quarter, Mayberry threw a 54-yard touchdown pass to put Hinsdale South (9-1) on top for good. It was Mayberry's first pass of the season.

Alex Perry, OT – Morris (Ill.) – Second-ranked Morris (10-0) had no problems with Crete-Monee in its playoff opener, cruising to a 42-8 win for their 10th consecutive victory. Morris tailback John Dergo went over the 2,000-yard mark for the season with a 220-yard, four-touchdown effort in the first round playoff contest.

Jeff Sanders, TE Springfield (Ill.) Sacred Heart Griffin H.S. – Top-ranked Sacred Heart Griffin (9-0) opens its playoff run today at 1 p.m. when it plays Chatham Glenwood.

Pete Saxon, IL – Plain City (Ohio) Jonathan Alder H.S. (9-1) posted a hard fought 12-7 win over Clarksville Clinton-Massie. As it prepares for the start of the state playoffs, Jonathan Alder is ranked 12th in the state in Division IV.

Jarrod Smith, OL – Fairborn (Ohio). Fairborn (1-8) played Trotwood Madison, but no results or statistics were available.

Mike Stark, OL – Platteville (Wis.). After marching through the regular season 8-1 and to a No. 5 ranking in the state, Platteville made a quick exit from the state playoffs, losing to Brodhead/Juda, 66-35. It was a rough night for a Platteville team that had held six of its previous nine opponents to 14 points or less.
