IU redshirt freshman wide receiver James Bailey was arrested Thursday morning after an IU student issued a complaint following an incident at IU's McNutt Quadrangular last night.
IU police responded to a call from an IU student around midnight Wednesday night. A dormitory resident told police a man had forced his way into his dorm room, threatened him, and then took his cell phone after he tried to use it to call 911.
Bailey was arrested this morning at the dorm and taken to Monroe County Mail, where he's being held in connection with trespass, harassment and theft complaints.
IU Media Relations Director Pete Rhoda said the department and IU Coach Terry Hoeppner are aware of the situation.
"We were made aware of the situation this morning," Rhoda said. "We're in the process of gathering all the facts and we will proceed once that fact gathering process is complete."
Bailey was IU's fourth-leading receiver this season, catching 27 passes for 335 yards and three touchdowns. He missed the final month of the season, though, after being dismissed from the team to concentrate on academics. He was expected to be back on the field this fall, though, before this latest incident.
