BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indications are that November signee Armon Bassett won't be headed to IU after all.
Bassett said Wednesday night that he has asked an IU official for a release from his National Letter of Intent that he signed in February. He said he has spoken with an associate athletic director at IU about his wishes, although he hasn't been able to talk to Athletics Director Rick Greenspan yet.
""It's nothing against Coach (Kelvin) Sampson, but I just don't feel the way that I did," Bassett. said.
A Terre Haute, Ind., native, Bassett spent the past season at Hargrave Military Academy in Virginia. After originally verballing to Missouri late last summer, he eventually changed his mind and decided to sign with IU to play for Mike Davis.
Once Davis decided to step down at season's end, though, Bassett began re-considering his decision. He said after Davis' announcement he has had a handful of programs that have been showing interest in bringing him to their respective programs.
"I'm looking for the best fit for me and for my future," Bassett said.
