Bloomington, Ind. - Indiana Coach Terry Hoeppner will be taking a leave of absence from the team to undergo a second brain surgery, IU officials announced Tuesday.
IU Assistant Head Coach Bill Lynch will take over for Hoeppner on an interim basis.
The 59-year-old Hoeppner was originally diagnosed with a brain tumor Dec. 26, 2005, and had surgery the following day. He returned to work shortly afterwards, leading the team throughout spring practice and fall camp.
Hoeppner informed the team of the news shortly his weekly press conference concluded at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
