Both of IU's in-state recruits – wide receiver Matt Ernest and tight end Max Dedmond – saw their undefeated prep teams go down to the wire in their sectional semifinal contests. One team emerged with a one-point win, while the other saw its undefeated season come to an end….

Dane Conwell, LB, Pittsburgh (Penn.) Upper St. Clair H.S. – Upper St. Clair closed out the regular season with a 24-14 win over Mt. Lebanon, giving it a 9-0 record as it heads into the playoffs. It marked the third time in the last four years Upper St. Clair went undefeated in the regular season, and it will be the top-seed in the state playoffs. Conwell carried 17 times for 94 yards and a touchdown in the win.

Max Dedmond, TE, Evansville (Ind.) Central H.S. – Dedmond's high school career came to a disappointing end as Central lost to Jasper 8-7 in a sectional semifinal game. The loss was the first on the season for the top-ranked Bears (10-1), while Jasper improved to 8-3. In a rain and mud-soaked game, Jasper scored the game-winning touchdown on a 47-yard run with 1:21 left to end Evansville Central's season.

Matt Ernest, WR, Crown Point (Ind.) H.S. – It wasn't a catch Ernest made that helped key Crown Point's dramatic 14-13 overtime win over Portage in the sectional semifinals, but instead a pass interference call. With Portage leading 13-7 in overtime, Ernest drew a pass interference call in the end zone to set up a one-yard touchdown run on the next play, and the ensuing extra point gave Crown Point (11-0) the win. Crown Point had scored at least 40 points in four straight games but struggled mightily against Portage, totaling just 29 yards passing and three first downs in the entire game.

Sidney Glover, S, Warren G. Harding (Ohio) H.S. – Harding slipped to 7-3 with 14-13 loss to Erie (Pa.) Cathedral Prep Friday night. No statistics were available.

Darius Johnson, LB, Highland Park (Mich.) Community H.S. – Darius Johnson's Highland Park squad plays Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. against Monroe Jefferson H.S. The IU-bound Johnson has rushed for 1,184 yards on 107 carries this season, or better than 11 yards per carry.

Tyler Replogle, LB, Centerville (Ohio) H.S. - Centerville ran its winning streak to six straight with a 63-6 win over Fairmont Friday night, improving the Elks to 8-2 on the season. With the win Centerville captured the GWOC Conference championship. No game statistics were available.

Teddy Schell, QB, Barrington (Ill.) H.S. – Barrington (7-2) opens its playoff march tonight at 6 p.m. when it plays Oak Park H.S.

Zach Walker, RB, Plantation (Fla.) H.S. - Walker's Plantation team played Piper H.S. Friday night. No results or stats were available. Top Stories
