Friday Night Sites

Five IU-bound recruits had state playoff games over the weekend, but only three emerged victorious to advance to next weekend. Find out which three have teams still alive for state titles, and also read about huge games for Dane Conwell, Matt Ernest and Sidney Glover…

Dane Conwell, LB, Pittsburgh (Penn.) Upper St. Clair H.S. – Upper St. Clair advanced to the semifinals of the WPIAL Quad-A playoffs with a 34-10 win over North Hills Friday night. Conwell played a big part in the win, running for 110 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries, while also returning an interception for a score against North Hills (7-4). Upper St. Clair faces North Allegheny in the semifinals this weekend.

Max Dedmond, TE, Evansville (Ind.) Central H.S. – Dedmond's Evansville Central team was eliminated from the state playoffs in the sectional semifinals in October. Central finished 10-1 this season.

Matt Ernest, WR, Crown Point (Ind.) H.S. - Crown Point's season came to a disappointing end as it fell to LaPorte 28-21 in overtime of the regionals Friday night, ending their season at 12-1. Ernest caught three touchdown passes and had 125 yards receiving, but had a drop in the end zone in overtime that could have potentially tied the game. Defensively, Ernest intercepted a LaPorte pass with two minutes remaining in regulation and the score tied at 21, but Scott Lipton's potential game-winning field goal hooked wide left to send the game into overtime.

Sidney Glover, S, Warren G. Harding (Ohio) H.S. – Sidney Glover was named the game's MVP after scoring the only touchdown on an eight-yard run as Harding (9-3) upsest Lakewood St. Edward's 7-3 in a regional semifinal at Cleveland Browns Stadium. Harding will now face Mentor (11-1) this weekend in the regional final. St. Edward's (9-2) entered the game averaging more than 30 points/contest, but was shut down by Harding. Harding started the year 2-2 but has gone 7-1 since.

Darius Johnson, LB, Highland Park (Mich.) Community H.S. – After surviving an overtime score a week ago, Highland Park cruised to a 36-0 win over previously unbeaten Marine City in the regional. Johnson rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries and added four tackles on defense. On the season, Johnson has 159 carries for 1,491 yards. Highland Park (11-1) will face Zeeland West H.S. (11-1) Nov. 18.

Tyler Replogle, LB, Centerville (Ohio) H.S. - Centerville won the GWOC Conference championship and finished 8-2 this season, but didn't earn a spot in the state playoffs.

Teddy Schell, QB, Barrington (Ill.) H.S. – Schell's high school career ended in disappointing fashion as Barrington was whipped by Wheaton Warrensville South 44-15 in a Class 8A quarterfinal playoff game. Schell, who had thrown only three interceptions all season, was picked off four times and sacked five times in the contest.

Zach Walker, RB, Plantation (Fla.) H.S. - Plantation didn't qualify for the state playoffs and ended its season 3-5. Walker was the team's leading rusher, carrying the ball 82 times for 408 yards and four touchdowns. Top Stories
