Haynes Enjoys IU Visit, But Picks SMU

Late last night Dallas area wideout Bradley Haynes decided nearby SMU was his best option, picking the Mustangs over Indiana. Haynes talked to HoosierNation.com about his IU visit and what stood out about the SMU program...

Bradley Haynes ultimately decided there's no place like home.

The Dallas Morning News reported Tuesday morning that the 6-2, 195-pound wide receiver from Arlington (Tex.) Summitt H.S. had picked nearby SMU over Indiana.

Earlier Tuesday evening Haynes told HoosierNation.com that he was still undecided on his college choice and was down to MSU and Indiana. But the standout wideout apparently decided soon afterwards that the nearby Mustangs were his best college choice.

He admitted it's been a tough task trying to choose which college was best for him.

"It's been extremely tough," Haynes said. "It's tough trying to figure out which school is right for you. They're all going to have things you like and dislike, but I'm fortunate to have the opportunity to pick a school."

Haynes was in Bloomington over the weekend for his official visit to the Hoosier program. He said other than the weather, which was rainy, it was a good visit.

"It went really well," Haynes said of the trip to Bloomington. "The campus was really nice, I liked the receivers coach, Billy Lynch, and I enjoyed being around the coaches. It seems exactly like a college campus should be."

Haynes admitted there was a strong pull to stay close to home and go to SMU, a program that he thinks is headed in the right direction.

"The coaches (at SMU) seem really high on me," Haynes said. "When I went there to visit I felt pretty comfortable with the players, and they seem to be an up-and-coming program."

Haynes had approximately 45 catches for 700 yards and six touchdowns as a senior.
